Elizabeth Tarantino-Thorson
Committed to advocacy, equity, and justice, Elizabeth has previously worked as an Instructional Specialist with the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections. She has also served as a special education middle resource teacher. Elizabeth believes that it is our sole responsibility to protect children’s civil rights as children’s emotional well-being and safety should never depend on their disability nor the location of their school’s zip code.
She earned her Masters degree in Education at University of California, Davis in 2020. Elizabeth is also currently expecting her Legal Technology Certificate in August 2023 along with her ABA-Approved Paralegal Certificate from the University of San Diego, School of Law Paralegal Program in April 2024. As she leans into this new path in her career as a paralegal, she hopes to find a rewarding opportunity where she can be a part of a legal team that ensures access to justice for marginalized groups of people in Idaho.
Elizabeth enjoys non-profit advocacy work as she’s a volunteer with the Alliance Against Seclusion and Restraint. She hopes to support and bring systematic change in our education system by accelerating new legislation to ban the heinous use of restraint and seclusion in schools. She considers herself an avid reader as she always looks for another book to add to her current collection or has a book on her when she’s on the go. Elizabeth also enjoys any chance she gets to be in nature camping with her family, on a hike, paddle boarding with her pup Bella, snowboarding, and participating in local 5k events.
She is excited to join the Go Lead Idaho community and meet other women who motivate, inspire, and support other fellow aspiring women in their careers and future professional endeavors.
